Souq Waqif Management Denies Rumors About Reopening All Stores

The Peninsula -- The Souq Waqif management denied the information shared on social media websites about reopening of all stores starting tomorrow, Tuesday.

Mohammed al-Salem, Director of Souq Waqif, said, in a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), that “all the news on social media sites about reopening of all stores in Souq Waqif starting tomorrow (Tuesday), from seven in the morning until one in the afternoon is unfounded.”

He pointed out that only food stores, fast food restaurants (for takeaway and delivery) and pharmacies, covered in the decision of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, are open with strict adherence to the precautionary measures and health safety requirements for employees, such as sterilization and wearing gloves and masks, in the context of preparations for the advent of the holy month of Ramadan.

He added that the market administration is committed to all directives issued by the competent authorities regarding the precautionary measures against the Coronavirus, and to support all efforts made by the State to prevent this virus.
